St. Luke
Feast Day: October 18
Patron of: Doctors and surgeons
St. Luke wrote one of the four Gospels and the Acts of the Apostles. He’s widely believed to have been a Greek doctor, and possibly a slave, before devoting his life to God’s word. St. Luke is also known for his sensitive and insightful portrayal of Christ’s mother, Mary; his gospel is the only one that tells the story of the Annunciation.
St. Luke can help us learn to respect others the way he respected his patients, the poor and women. He can help anyone who needs to grow in compassion towards others.
